Kurt Vonnegut (1922 — 2007) was a famous American writer. In his work, masterfully combining elements of satire, black humor and science fiction, he opposed war, militarism and any kind of violence. The novelist himself was a participant in World War II, was held captive in Dresden during the bombing of the city by Allied aircraft. The horrors he saw were later reflected in the novel "Massacre Number Five, or the Children's Crusade", perhaps his most popular work.
