Jerome Salinger - The Catcher in the Rye. Gift book bound in genuine leather
Jerome David Salinger is an American writer whose works were published in The New Yorker magazine in the 2nd half of the 1940s and in the 1950s. Salinger grew up in Manhattan, started writing short stories in high school. The first works were published before the beginning of the Second World War.
Salinger's only novel - "The Catcher in the Rye" - became a turning point in the history of world literature. The title of the book and the name of the main character Holden Caulfield have become code for many generations of young rebels-from beatniks and hippies to representatives of modern radical youth movements.
The novel is presented in a brilliant translation by Rita Wright-Kovaleva, which has become a classic of translation art.
