Alexander Nekrich - 1941. June 22. Gift book bound in leather.

The book deals with the problems of the USSR's participation in World War II, preparation for repelling fascist aggression, and failures in the first days of the Great Patriotic War.

For the first time, the book by A. Nekrich was published in our country in 1965. And was defeated for the author's different from the official view of the tragic events of the beginning of the war; the circulation was negligible, and the author was expelled from the party and had to emigrate from the country. These events, confirmed by documents, including those published for the first time, are reflected in this publication.

This book is dedicated to the events of the eve of the Great Patriotic War. When preparing the manuscript, the author used not only the materials published in our country and abroad, but also valuable information gleaned from conversations with direct participants in the events.

The author expresses deep gratitude to Marshal of the Soviet Union F. I. Golikov, Associate Professor N. N. Ivanov, Major General I. A. Susloparov, Colonel G. P. Sechkin, who shared their memories with the author.

The familiar world, with its usual joys and sorrows, suddenly fell apart. The war broke in and whirled millions of human lives in its maelstrom. Hitler's Germany treacherously attacked the Soviet Union.
