Volume 1
The first volume includes the first three books of the writer — "Evenings on a farm near Dikanka", "Arabesque" (this collection in its original composition, republished rarely), "Mirgorod", and early works.
Volume 2
The second volume made up story, Comedy, critical articles and reviews, author's additions and interpretations by "Inspector". It also includes a concise chronicle of the life of Gogol.
Volume 3
In the third volume included the poem "Dead souls", the book "Selected passages from correspondence with friends", the article "About "contemporary" and "Author's confession", and also list of basic literature about the writer.
