In search of pearls, Captain Van Toch discovers unusual creatures near the islands of the Pacific Ocean. They look like salamanders, but they have intelligence and, as it turned out, they learn quickly. Van Toch wants to help hardworking creatures and begins to settle them among people.

Thus began a new chapter in the history of salamanders, which gradually evolved. They learned to talk, adopted human habits and way of thinking. But they were still just cheap labor. No one guessed that one day these mysterious creatures would claim their rights and decide to end the domination of humans.
