Afanasy Afanasyevich FET — a Russian lyric poet and translator, diarist, correspondent member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences.

All of the works of A. A. FET may be considered in the dynamics of development. The first poems of the University period tend to the glorification of the sensual, pagan beginning. Great finds specific visual forms, harmonious and complete. Between the spiritual and carnal worlds there is no contradiction, there is something that unites them - beauty. Search and the discovery of beauty in nature and man - that is the main task of early FET. In the first period, there are tendencies characteristic of the later work. The objective world became less clear and at the forefront came the shades of the emotional state, the impressionistic feeling. The expression of the inexpressible, the unconscious, music, imagination, emotions, attempt to grab sensitive, not the subject, and the impression of the object caused by the poetry of Afanasii FET 1850-1860-ies. Late lyrics of the poet was formed largely under the influence of tragic philosophy of Schopenhauer. For creativity 1880s, the typical attempt to escape to another world, the world of pure ideas and essences. In this FET was close to the aesthetics of the symbolists, who believed the poet to be their teacher.
