Frederick Philips is the formula for success. Gift book bound in leather.
The history of Philips dates back a century before the founding of the company itself. Back in 1790, the family of the future pioneer in the field of household appliances settled in Saltbummel, at that time the Dutch steelmaking center. Frederick Philips owned one of the largest cigar manufactories in Europe and was the first in the Netherlands to establish their mechanized production. In addition, he was a shareholder of the National bank of the Netherlands and his own small bank. In short, the Philips family was not in trouble, and the ground under the feet of the future founder of the company Gerard Philips (Frederick's eldest son) was solid. But trade and the prospect of following in the footsteps of his merchant father did not attract Gerard, and in 1876 he entered an engineering specialty, and seven years later received a diploma. Later he became interested in the scientific publications of James Swinburne in the well-known at that time magazine "The Electrician", which were devoted to "incandescent electric lamps".
The name "Philips" is known to anyone familiar with household appliances. Radios, electric lamps, batteries, televisions, tape recorders, CD players are only a small part of what the famous Dutch concern produces. It was Philips that gave the world a tape recorder, video recorders and CDs. Frederick Philips, the patriarch of the company and its head for several decades, tells about how a small electric lamp factory turned into a giant of the world industry, about his experience as a man and an industrialist, about participation in the "Moral Rearmament" movement in his book. The reader will also be interested to know that the Philips "electronic empire" owes much of its prosperity to Russia." At the end of the book there is a code of business ethics - a moral legacy that F. Philips sends it to all current and future entrepreneurs.
