Ivan Aksakov - What is the strength of Russia? Gift book bound in leather.
What is Russia's strength?
In 1859, Ivan Sergeyevich Aksakov proclaimed: "Our banner is the Russian nationality as a symbol of independence and spiritual freedom, freedom of life and development." This idea has become one of the peaks of the Russian national worldview. Aksakov stood on firm Orthodox-monarchical positions, defending the inviolability of Russian national foundations, traditions and ideals. The thinker advocated communal and collective "people's production" against the imposition of Western economic forms. He believed that the basis of the spiritual revival of all mankind could be the union of Slavic peoples under the leadership of the Russian people. Aksakov valued the activity of every honest citizen not in the "brilliance of big things" and not accessible to everyone, but in everyday, modest work that requires not a beautiful, but fleeting uplift, but the eternal striving of the soul for truth. During the years of his highest social activity, I. S. Aksakov became an exponent of the Slavic sympathies of Russian society. His candidacy was even proposed by some Bulgarian election committees for the Bulgarian throne. This richly illustrated edition gives the modern reader an opportunity to get to know more closely the philosophical and journalistic legacy of this outstanding Russian thinker, his magazine and newspaper polemics in defense of the foundations of people's life, on the problems of zemstvo self-government, on the peasant question, freedom of speech, public education and many other problems of life in Russia in the second half of the XIX century, many of which are relevant to this day.
