Nadezhda Taffy - Humorous stories. Gift book bound in leather
The collection includes the best humorous stories of Nadezhda Alexandrovna Lokhvitskaya, who entered the literature under her pseudonym Taffy. The whole country was read in the beginning of the XX century with sparkling feuilletons and humorous jokes of this writer, who was called a "satirist in a skirt" and "the queen of Russian humor". The collection includes more than fifty novels and short stories published in the emigrant newspaper "Vozrozhdenie" from 1927 to 1936, and since then have never been reprinted. The collection was illustrated by the contemporary artist Svetlana Nosovskaya.
At the beginning of the XX century, literally the entire educated Russia was read with humorous stories and feuilletons by Taffy. A great sense of humor, a lively conversational language, a beautiful style - that's what attracted the audience to these short literary gems, in which the prejudices of ordinary people claiming to be bohemian, the snobbery of the upper world, the narrow-mindedness of the bourgeoisie, and the stupidity of the lower classes of society were bitterly ridiculed. At that time, not everyone knew that a talented woman - translator and poetess Nadezhda Alexandrovna Lokhvitskaya was hiding under a strange literary pseudonym. Later, when she was already at the zenith of her fame, she was called "a satirist in a skirt" and "the queen of Russian humor".
