The current, 15th edition of "Britannica" consists of 32 volumes of an encyclopedia ("Propedia", "Micropedia", "Macropedia", a fundamental two-volume index), which includes the works of 6000 authors from 100 countries of the world, includes more than 43 million words.

Micropedia (12 volumes) is a short encyclopedia containing basic information on any topic. Its task is to provide basic information on any issue: for example, to find out the date of birth of a particular person or to establish a fact.

The part "Macropedia" (17 volumes) contains more detailed and thorough information.
